a town of Germany, in the circle of the Upper Rhine, and capital of a principality of Hirtella of the same name, depending on a famous abbey which was secularized in favour of the house of Calfeil. It is defeated on the river Fulda, in E. Long. 9° 52' N. Lat. 51° 46'.
