Volume 11 · 73 words · 1810 Edition

a town of Gloucestershire in England, 71 miles from London, is seated on the west bank of the river Severn. In the neighbourhood are the remains of a large Roman encampment, with foundations of many ancient buildings, among which are the ruins of a Roman hypocaust of an oval form; and Roman antiquities and coins are often found. Mr Bathurst has a fine seat here called Sydney-Park, in the midst of extensive woods.
