a city beyond Jordan. It took the name of Nobah from an Israelite of this name who had made a conquest of it, (Num. xxxvi. 42.). Gideon pursued the Midianites as far as this city, (Judg. viii. 2.). Eusebius says, that there is a desolate place of this name about eight miles from Heshbon towards the south. But this could not be the Nobah now mentioned, because it was much farther to the north.
