The common folderies and janizaries, called oddachts, after having served a certain number of years, are always preferred and made biquelairs; and of biquelairs in time become odobachs, i.e. corporals of companies, or chiefs of certain divisions, whose number is not fixed; being sometimes ten, and sometimes twenty.
Their pay is six doubles per month; and they are distinguished by a large felt, a foot broad and above a foot long, hanging on the back, with two long ostrich feathers.
