Emmaus, or Anmaus, in Ancient Geography, a village, 60 stadia to the north west of Jerusalem, or about seven miles: it afterwards became a town, and a Roman colony, Nicopolis (Jerome). Re-land has another Emmaus towards Lydda, 22 miles from Jerusalem, (Itinerary); a third, near Tibernas.
