-orum, in Ancient Geography, an island opposite to Mallea, a promontory, and to Bone, a town of Laconia; with a cognominal town, which has an excellent port called Scandea. The island was sacred to Venus, with a very ancient temple of that goddess exhibited in armour at Cythera, as in Cyprus: now Cerigo.
