CYZICENA, among the ancients Greeks, were a sort of magnificent banqueting houses, always looking toward the north, and usually opening upon gardens.

They had their name from Cyzicus, a city very considerable for the grandeur of its buildings; situated in an island of Mytilene, bearing the same name.
