in Ancient Geography, a people of the Regio Syrtica (to called from their living on the lotus); inhabiting between the two Syrtes from the Cinythus to the Triton. The lotus was said to be a food so lascivious, as to make strangers forget their native country. A sweet wine was expressed from it, which did not keep above ten days, (Pliny).
