a royal borough of Scotland in the shire of Rothesay, situated on the frith of Cromarty, 15 miles west of the town of Cromarty. Near it runs the river Connel, famous for producing pearls. W. Long. 4° 15'. N. Lat. 57° 45'. Dingwal was a Scotch barony in the person of the duke of Ormond in right of his lady, but forfeited in 1715.
