COELIUS MUNIS, one of the seven hills of Rome, so called from Coelus, a Trojan captain, who came to the assistance of Romulus against the Sabines, (Dionysius Halicarnassus). Called also Querculatus, or Querculanus, from the oaks growing on it; and Augurius, by Tiberius. (Tacitus, Suetonius). To the east it had the city walls, on the south the Coelius, to the west the Palatine, and on the north the Esquiliae.
