COLUMNY, a town of Red Russia in Poland, situated on the river Pruth, towards the confines of Moldavia, about 38 miles from Halicz, and 63 south of Leopol. This town has been very ill treated by the Cossacks, inasmuch that it is now inconsiderable, though there are several mines of salt in its district.
