RUPIN

or RAPIN, a town of Germany, in the marquisate of Brandenburg, and capital of a duchy of the same name. It is divided into the Old and the New. The Old was nothing but an ancient castle, very well furnished, the late king of Prussia, before his father's death, residing there. New Rupin is seated on a lake, and become a considerable place of trade, with a manufactory of cloth. It is also noted for brewers.
