ALBINTEMELIUM. ALBINTEMELIUM, Albintimilium (Tacitus); or, at full length, Albium Intemelium (Pliny, Strabo); now Vintimiglia, situated in the southwest of the territory of Genoa, near the borders of the county of Nice, with a port on the Mediterranean, at the mouth of the rivulet Rotta, about half-way between Monaco and St Remo. ALBEOCE, or Alebece (Pliny, Strabo); otherwise called Reoi Apollinares, from their superstitious worship of Apollo; also Civitas Reicenfium; now Riez, in Provence, about 18 leagues to the north-east of Toulon, on the north side of the rivulet Verdon; was originally a Roman colony (Inscription). It is sometimes written Regium. The people were called Albici, (Cæsar). E. Long. 1° 5'. N. Lat. 43° 20'.
