a town of Arragon in Spain, seated on the river Guadaloupe, 12 miles from Calpe. It was formerly the capital of the kingdom of the Moors; but being taken from them, it was made a commandery of the order of Calatrava. Here is a very remarkable fountain, which throws up water through 42 pipes. It is surrounded with gardens and fruit trees, and defended by a good fortress. W. Long. 0° 5'. N. Lat. 41° 0'.
