town of Italy, in the kingdom of Naples, and Terra di Lavora; a bishop's see, but ruined by the emperor Conrade, and now consisting of about 35 houses. It was the birthplace of the poet Juvenal, and of Thomas Aquinas. E. Long. 14. 30. N. Lat. 41. 32.

Aquimum, in Ancient Geography, a large municipal town, and a Roman colony on the borders of the Samnites, washed by the river Melpha (Strabo). The inhabitants are called Aquinates. Now Aquino, but Aquitania almost in ruins, in the territory of Lavora. E. Long. 17. 11. N. Lat. 41. 35.
