BERNARD FOREST DE, a Catalanian engineer in the service of France, and member of the academies of sciences at Paris and Berlin, and of the royal society at London; a celebrated mathematician, and author of a number of military tracts in which the science of mathematics is applied to military uses. Died in 1765, aged 70.
