BERQUERIA, or Berkeria, in middle-age writers, denotes a sheep-fold, sheep-cote, sheep-pen, or other enclosure, for the safe keeping a flock of sheep.—The word is abbreviated from berbiceria; of berbe, detorted from nervex. Hence also a shepherd was denominated berbicerius and berquarius.
