in Zoology, the name of a species of serpent found in America; and called by the Portuguese there, cobra di apo. It grows to seven or eight feet long, is about the thickness of a man's arm, and very small, and taper towards the tail. Its back is of an olive colour; its belly yellow, and covered with very regular and elegant triangular scales. It feeds on frogs, &c. but is very poisonous, and its bite extremely fatal.
