John, a Spanish poet of the 16th century, born at Barcelona. He was the friend of Garcilasso de Vega, another Spanish poet. These two were the first who made any great improvement in the poetry of their nation, and their pieces were printed together. Boscan, who died about the year 1542, principally succeeded in sonnets.
