a town of Leicestershire in England, situated in W. Long. 1° 24'. N. Lat. 52° 25'. It has a lofty situation on a hill, and the country about it is fertile in corn and grass. It is memorable for the decisive battle fought near it between Richard III. and the earl of Richmond, afterwards Henry VII., wherein the former lost his crown and life.
