a province of Italy in the territory of Venice; bounded on the north, by the Grisons and the bishopric of Trent; on the east, by the lake Garda, the Veronese, and the duchy of Mantua; on the south, by the duchy of Mantua and the Cremonese; and on the west by the Cremasco, the Bergamasco, and the Valtenina. It is watered by several small rivers, which render it very fertile; and is full of towns and villages, of which Brescia is the capital.
