a town of Somersetshire in England, seated on the river Parrett, over which there is a stone-bridge, near which ships of 100 tons burden may ride with ease. It is a large well frequented place, with the title of a duchy, and sends two members to parliament. There are in it several large inns, and the market is well supplied with provisions. W.
