in Ancient Geography, that branch of the Nile which empties itself at the mouth called Ophium Patmheticum, or Phatniticum, (Ptolemy); also a part, according to an ancient map at the Ophium Mindeium; this river, or branch, dividing itself at Diospolis into two branches; called Busiriticus, from the city of Bufris, which stood on its left or west branch. It is the second branch of the Nile, reckoning from the east.
