or Claros, in Ancient Geography, a town of Ionia, famous for an oracle of Apollo. It was built by Manto, daughter of Tireias, who fled from Thebes after it had been destroyed by the Epigoni. She was so afflicted with her misfortunes, that a lake was formed with her tears, where the first founded the oracle. Apollo was from thence surnamed Clarius. Also an island of the Aegean sea, between Tenedos and Scios.
