COATING of Phials, Panes of Glass, &c. among electricians, is usually performed by covering the outside of the phial with tinfoil, bras, or gold-leaf, &c. and filling its inside with loose pieces of brass-leaf, by which means it becomes capable of being charged. See ELECTRICITY.
