Volume 6 · 56 words · 1815 Edition

(from κόσμος, world, and λαβεῖν, I take), an ancient mathematical instrument, serving to measure distances both in the heavens and on earth. The Cosmolabe is in a great measure the same with the astrolabe. It is also called pantocosm, or the universal instrument, by L. Morgard, in a treatise written expressly upon it, printed in 1612.
