Volume 7 · 93 words · 1815 Edition

the name given by the natives to a tree which is indigenous to the high country of Abyssinia. It is particularly described by Mr Bruce; but as this celebrated traveller was totally unacquainted with the language of botany, it is impossible to discover to what chals, order, or genus, it belongs. It grows nearly to the height of 25 feet, and the seed is employed by the Abyssinians as a vermifuge. From the figure which Mr Bruce has given of this plant, it would appear to be most nearly allied to the palms.
