FER DE FOURCHETTE

Volume 8 · 47 words · 1815 Edition

in Heraldry, a crois having at each end a forked iron, like that formerly used by foldiers to rest their muskets on. It differs from the crois-fourche, the ends of which turn forked; whereas this has that sort of fork fixed upon the square end. See HERALDRY.
