the name of several engravers, of whom the principal was Cornelius, who flourished about the 1600. He learned the art of engraving from his father, and imitated his stiff style, till he went to Rome, where he resided a considerable time, and there acquired that freedom, taste, and correctness of drawing, which are found in his best works. He settled at Antwerp upon his return from Italy, where he carried on a considerable commerce in prints. His best prints are those done after Rubens.
