in Anatomy, denotes a knot frequently found in the course of the nerves, and which is not morbid; for wherever any nerve sends out a branch, or receives one from another, or where two nerves join together, there is generally a ganglion or plexus, as may be seen at the beginning of all the nerves of the medulla spinalis, and in many other places of the body.

in Surgery, a hard tubercle, generally moveable, in the external or internal part of the ear-pus, upon the tendons or ligaments in that part; usually without any pain to the patient.
