or GARSOON, a French term, literally signifying a boy or male child any time before his marriage.—It is also applied to divers inferior officers, among us called groom, garçons. Thus all the servants in the French king's chambers, wardrobe, &c. who performed the lesser offices under the proper officers, were called garçons de la chambre, de la garde-robe, &c.
