See SALMO, ICHTHYOLOGY Index.

In angling for this fish the hook muft be armed upon the flanks with a very narrow plate of lead, which fhould be flenderly at the bent of the hook, that the bait (which is to be a large grathopper, the uppermost wing of which muft be pulled off) may come over to it the more eafily. At the point let there be a cod-bait in a continual motion. The jag-tail, which is a worm of a pale flefh-colour, with a yellow tag on its tail, is an excellent bait for the grayling in March and April.
