the son of Priam and Hecuba, and the father of Astyanax, is celebrated for the valour with which he defended the city of Troy against the Greeks. He was killed by Achilles, who dragged his body, fastened to his chariot, thrice round the walls of Troy, and afterwards restored it to Priam for a large ransom. See TROY.
