METOPOSCOPY

Volume 13 · 81 words · 1815 Edition

the pretended art of knowing a person's dispositions and manners by viewing the traces and lines in the face. Ciro Spoutoni, who has written expressly on metoposcopy, says, that seven lines are examined in the forehead, and that each line is considered as having its particular planet: the first is the line of Saturn, the second of Jupiter, the third of Mars, &c. Metoposcopy is only a branch of physiognomy, which founds its conjectures on all the parts of the body.
