Volume 14 · 54 words · 1815 Edition

Murdering Pieces, in a ship, are small pieces of ordnance, either of brass or iron, which have chambers put in at their breeches. They are used at the bulk-heads of the fore-castle, half-deck, or forecastle, in order to clear the deck, on the ship's being boarded by an enemy.
