the chief of the Lamas, particularly eminent for having invented characters for the Moguls. He was much esteemed by the Chinese, though the literati exclaimed against the manner in which the people demonstrated their affection. There is still at Pekin a myou or temple, built in honour of Pas-ep-a in the time of the Mogul emperors. He died in 1279.
