PING-LIANG-FOU

Volume 16 · 122 words · 1815 Edition

a city of China in the province of Chen-fu. It is one of the most considerable cities of the western part of the province, and is situated on the river Kin-ho. The air here is mild; and the agreeable views which the surrounding mountains present, added to the streams which water the country, render it a very delightful residence. It has under its jurisdiction three cities of the second class and seven of the third. In this district is a valley so deep and narrow, that it is almost impervious to the light: a large highway, paved with square stones, runs through it.
