is used for a duty in money, to be paid by the sheriff on his account, in the exchequer, or for money left or remaining in his hands: 2 & 3 Edw. VI. c. 4.

PREST-MONEY, is so called from the French word preft, that is, promptus, expeditus; for that it binds those who receive it, to be ready at all times appointed, being commonly meant of soldiers.

PRESTATION-MONEY, is a sum of money paid yearly by archdeacons and other dignitaries to their bishop, pro exteriore juriditione.
