a famous Greek historian, born in Caesarea, acquired great reputation by his works in the reign of Justinian, and was secretary to Belisarius during all the wars carried on by that general in Persia, Africa, and Italy. He at length became senator, obtained the title of illustrious, and was made pretor of Constantinople.
