REPLEVY

Volume 17 · 62 words · 1815 Edition

in Law, is a tenant's bringing a writ of replevin, or replegiari faciar, where his goods are taken by distress for rent; which must be done within five days after the distress, otherwise at the five days end they are to be appraised and sold.

This word is also used for bailing a person, as in the case of a homine replegando.
