STOKESIA, a genus of plants belonging to the syn-geneia clas, and order of polygama aequalis. The corollas in the ray are disposed in the shape of a funnel, and are long and irregular. The down is four-bristled, and the receptacle is naked. One species only is known, which is a herbaceous plant, and a native of South Carolina.
