in Ancient Geography, a country of Arabia Petraea, occupied by the children of Ammon, whence the appellation. Its limits partly to the west and partly to the north were the river Jabbok, whose course is nowhere determined; though Josephus says, that it runs between Rabbeth-Ammon or Philadelphia, and Gerase, and falls into the Jordan.
