ANDAMAN or ANDEMAN Islands, in the East Indies, situated about 80 leagues distant from Tanasseron on the coast of Siam. They are but little known. The East India ships sometimes touch at them, and are supplied by the natives with rice, herbs, and fruits. The inhabitants are by some represented as a harmless indolent race of men, and by others as cannibals. E. Long. 92° C. N. Lat. from 10° to 15°.
