a province of Asia, in the British East Indian possessions, adjoining to the province of Bengal. It abounds in corn, rice, pulse, and poppies, from which last they extract opium; and sugar-canies grow almost without cultivation. One fourth of the inhabitants are Mahometans and three fourths Hindoos.
