or Beziers, an ancient town of France, in Lower Languedoc, now the department of Herault, formerly a bishop's see, and containing 12,500 inhabitants in 1815. It has a delightful situation; and the country in which it stands is fertile in corn and oil, and produces excellent wine. It is seated on a hill near the river Orbe, in E. Long. 3° 23' N. Lat. 43° 21'.
