FREDERICK, born at Urbino in Italy, and descended from a very noble family, in the 16th century. To a vast skill in the mathematics, he had added a great knowledge in the Greek tongue, by which he was well qualified to translate the Greek mathematicians into Latin: accordingly he translated and published several, which no writer till then had attempted, as Archimedes, Apollonius, Euclid, &c.
