a strong fortress of Denmark, in the isle of Zealand, at the entrance of the Sound, where the Danes take toll of such ships as are bound for the Baltic. CRONUS, in Chronology, the ancient name of the Athenian month Hecatombeon; which was the Cronius first of their year, and answered to the latter part of our June and beginning of July.—There were feasts called Cronicienses celebrated at Athens in this month, in honour of Saturn, answering to the Saturnalia of the Romans.
