Emmaus, or Emmaus, in Ancient Geography, a village, 60 stadia to the north-west of Jerusalem, or about seven miles; it afterwards became a town and a Roman colony, Nicopolis (Jerome). Rehland has another Emmaus towards Lydda, 22 miles from Jerusalem, (Itinerary); a third, near Tiberias.
