in Ancient Geography, a town of Sicily, situated on an eminence to the south of the Chrysas; called the centre of Sicily. It was famous for a sacred grove, in which the rape of Proserpine happened; for a temple of Ceres, thence surnamed Ennea, and Ennensis; and for fine springs, whence the name (Bochart).
