or Fougasse, in the art of war, a little mine, about 8 or 10 feet wide, and 10 or 12 deep, dug under some work or post, which is in danger of falling into the enemy's hands; and charged with sacks of powder, covered with stones, earth, and whatever else can make great destruction. It is set on fire like other mines, with a saucisse. See mine.
